Job summary

CHRISTUS Health is seeking a Trauma Registrar Senior to provide data entry support for the Trauma Registry and ensure compliance with Department of State Health Services rules. This part‑time position supports data abstraction, AIS/ICD-10 coding, and registry maintenance for performance improvement and research purposes.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or equivalent required.
• Trauma Registry software training within 90 days of employment.
• Must accrue 24 hours of trauma-related continuing education during designation/verification period (3 years).
• AAAM Abbreviated Injury Scale course required upon hire.
• ICD-10 course in trauma; must be renewed every 5 years.
• CAISS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Meets expectations of CHristus OneCHRISTUS competencies: Leader of Self/Others/Leaders.
• Provides clerical, statistical and informational support to the Trauma Service.
• Maintains a database to retrieve trauma statistics easily.
• Identifies trauma patients, abstracts data, and enters into the registry per criteria.
• Performs ICD-10 and AIS coding.
• Maintains trauma registry records per ACS, State, and national standards.
• Uploads data to regional, state, and national registries as required.
• Generates queries and reports from the Trauma Registry.
• Communicates data base issues to Trauma Program leadership.
• Analyses trauma registry data for epidemiology and reporting; communicates trends.
• Maintains confidentiality of all sensitive data.
• Prepares, distributes, and files reports and correspondence in required formats.
• Precepts new registry staff.
• Participates in trauma-related activities with the Regional Advisory Council.
• Engages in ongoing education regarding TQIP and other topics.
• Promotes professional image in demeanor and appearance.
• Supports Trauma Program initiatives such as injury prevention and education.
