Job summary

VCU Healthseeks a Trauma Registrar to support adult or pediatric trauma programs and maintain the registry for Level 1 verification with the Commonwealth of Virginia and the American College of Surgeons. The role includes identifying cases for the registry, abstracting data from the EMR and other sources, and assigning ICD-10 codes and AIS scores.

Daily chart reviews, entering data into the registry, and reporting complications to the supervisor are core duties.

Qualifications

• Proficiency with MS Office including Word and Excel.
• Experience with medical terminology and acronyms related to diagnosis, procedures, complications and comorbid conditions.

Responsibilities

• Performs daily chart reviews on specific patients.
• Assigns ICD-10 and other specialized codes and enters data into the registry.
• Interprets medical information.
• The Registrar handles patients of basic to moderate complexity including those with multiple complications, including deaths.
