Job summary

Bon Secours Southside Medical Center in Petersburg, VA seeks a Trauma Registrar responsible for collecting and abstracting data for state and national trauma databases, ensuring accurate case identification from sources like the Master Patient Index, the ED log, and the Trauma Log.

You will assign ICD-10-CM/PCS and AIS codes per official guidelines, support verification as a Level III Trauma Center, participate in performance improvement, and maintain high data quality for regulatory reporting.

Qualifications

• One year registry data abstraction/coding experience.
• Two years medical data abstraction/coding experience.
• Proficiency with MS Office (Word/Excel).

Responsibilities

• Identify cases for inclusion into the registry from multiple sources.
• Assign ICD-10-CM/ICD-PCS codes per official guidelines.
• Assign AIS codes per AAAM AIS coding guidelines.
• Daily chart review and data entry into the Trauma Registry.
• Report complications and quality issues to the Trauma PI Coordinator.
• Support data management to ensure timely reporting.
• Assist with performance improvement activities.
