Responsibilities

• Copy insurance cards as required.
• Prepare ID bracelets and distribute with admission forms.
• Provide patients with information required by federal mandates (Patient Rights, Responsibilities, Advance Care Directives).
• Obtain signatures and copy/scan identification and coverage documents.
• Document reasons when information is not attainable.
• Communicate all information and financial responsibility to patient/guarantor.

Responsibilities

• The Trauma Registrar is responsible for greeting patients, collecting demographic and insurance information, and maintaining patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA.
• Registers patients for inpatient, outpatient, or emergency room services and obtains accurate demographic and insurance information.
• Copies insurance cards as required.
• Prepares ID bracelets and distributes them with admission forms.
• Provides patients with information required by federal mandates, i.e., Patient Rights and Responsibilities, and Advance Care Directives.
• Obtains appropriate signatures and copies and/or scans all identification and healthcare coverage presented.
• Documents the reasons if this information is not attainable.
• Communicates all information and financial responsibility to the patient/guarantor.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

Preferred Job Requirements:

• 1+ year working in medical/and or medical insurance areas.

Rate of pay is determined based on experience and education, and may include other pay components such as differentials and call pay based on role.
