Job summary

Vassar Brothers Medical Center is seeking a Trauma Data Registrar to oversee the collection and reporting of trauma performance data, including Image trend, NYS DOH, and NTDB. You will ensure accuracy and timely reporting to internal stakeholders and outside agencies.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree, RN preferred, and certifications such as TNCC and ACLS, with experience in trauma registries and database management.

Qualifications

• Must attend two trauma registrar courses within 12 months of hire.
• Minimum 8 hours of registry CE per year.
• Proficiency in ImageTend Trauma Registry.
• Ability to review and abstract clinical information and manage databases.
• Mathematical ability to validate and analyze data.

Role Overview

Under the direction of the Director of Cardiovascular Quality and the Trauma Program Manager, the Trauma Data Registrar is responsible for collecting and reporting all Trauma Performance activities, including but not limited to Image trend, NYS DOH, and National Trauma Data Bank (NTDB) to ensure accurate, informative, and timely reporting to internal stakeholders and outside agencies.

Key Qualifications

• Must attend or have previously attended two courses within 12 months of being hired: (1) the American Trauma Society’s Trauma Registrar Course or equivalent provided by a state trauma program and (2) the Association of the Advancement of Automotive Medicine’s Injury Scaling Course. A certifying examination is available through the sponsorship of the American Trauma Society’s Registrar Certification Board, leading to the designation of certified specialist in trauma registries (CSTR) or equivalent.
• Registrars should complete a minimum of 8 hours of registry-specific continuing education per year.
• Must demonstrate proficiency in the use of the ImageTend Trauma Registry.
• Proficiency in the review and abstraction of clinical patient information from a medical record and excellent database management skills.
• Mathematical ability necessary to validate and analyze data.

Education & Experience

Education: Bachelor’s degree.

Experience: 3 years clinical healthcare experience working within a trauma program preferred.

License: RN preferred.

Certifications: TNCC, ACLS.
