Job summary

UNC Health Care seeks a Trauma Process Improvement Coordinator to evaluate and monitor the quality of care for injured patients across the continuum from injury through discharge.

The role uses ACS-COT, NC-COT and NCOEMS guidelines, driving performance improvement, documentation quality, and regulatory compliance. Requires project management, clinical quality, and safety expertise with on-site responsibilities and a 40-hour work week.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing or equivalent experience
• Current RN license in North Carolina or compact state
• 3 years' clinical RN experience
• BLS and ACLS certifications
• TNCC certification
• Trauma Process Improvement Course completed

Responsibilities

• Develops and oversees the PIPS program for Trauma Department
• Identifies performance improvement issues via observation, reviews, and meetings
• Uses process improvement methods to prevent issues
• Documents stakeholder meetings for tertiary/peer review
• Delivers aggregate metrics for program effectiveness to leadership
• Inputs outcome data into trauma registry for safety reporting
• Serves as a resource to staff caring for injured patients
• Collaborates with cross-functional teams on PIPS activities
• Coordinates and teaches trauma-related continuing education programs
• Maintains ACS and state guideline knowledge and attendance requirements
• Implements corrective measures per ACS regulations
