Job summary

Duke University Hospital in Durham, North Carolina seeks a Trauma Nurse Coordinator to plan, coordinate, and evaluate the Trauma Center's Performance Improvement and Patient Safety Plan. This role works with the Trauma Center Medical Director and Trauma Program Manager to ensure high-quality trauma care.

Ideal candidates are RNs with NC licensure, BSN and trauma care experience, ACLS/TNCC, and national certification preferences.

Qualifications

• Active North Carolina RN license.
• ACLS certification (preferred).
• TNCC certification or eligibility within 18 months of hire.
• BSN required; Master’s in healthcare field preferred.
• Three years’ trauma/emergency/prehospital experience.
• TNCC instructor (or eligible within 18 months).
• National nursing certification preferred (TCRN).
• PALS or ENPC preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with American College of Surgeons Level 1 Trauma Center standards.
• Develop, implement, and coordinate performance improvement initiatives for the Trauma Center.
• Monitor PI standards, audits, sentinel events, and guidelines adherence.
• Assist with development of clinical care guidelines and surveillance reporting.
• Collaborate with Trauma Center leadership to address performance improvement issues and liaise with multidisciplinary teams.
