Sasha Bruce Youthwork in Washington, DC, is hiring a Peer Youth Counselor for the Prince George’s County Drop-In Center. You will support youth experiencing homelessness and street-involved youth through case management, crisis intervention, and life skills activities.

Expect a full-time, non-exempt role with weekend/evening hours, bilingual English/Spanish is a plus, and a driver’s license is required. Salary is hourly, with accommodations for relevant MD clearances.

Qualifications

• Transition-aged youth up to 26 with lived street-survival experience preferred.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Willingness to learn harm reduction and positive youth development strategies.
• Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate supportive services for clients and provide concrete support (food, shower, laundry, mail, hygiene supplies, etc.).
• Assist with orientation and intake for new clients.
• Participate in crisis intervention and counseling; support harm-reduction interventions.
• Engage youth using trauma-informed, positive youth development approaches.
• Support site events and wellness activities; lead life skills sessions.
• Advise homeless youth on accessing resources and advocate for services.
• Escort youth to services and provide transportation as needed.
• Conduct street outreach to homeless and street-involved youth.
• Maintain case records, correspondence, and scheduling documentation.
