Job summary

Youth & Family Services (YFS) in Rapid City, SD is seeking a part-time Client Service Specialist to support intake, referral coordination, and community resources for families facing behavioral health challenges.

The role emphasizes trauma-informed care, confidentiality, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. Requires a Bachelor’s degree and relevant experience, plus a valid driver’s license and insurance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Human Services, Psychology, Counseling, Public Health, Sociology, Education, or related field.
• Minimum of two years of experience working with children, youth, families, or individuals experiencing behavioral health challenges preferred.
• Experience in care coordination, case management, family support, behavioral health, or community health preferred.
• Knowledge of trauma-informed care, child and family system, behavioral health resources, and community service networks.
• Ability to maintain professional boundaries, confidentiality, and accurate documentation.
• Ability to work with people of all socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds.
• Good computer/word processing skills.
• Good interpersonal, organizational and communications skills.
• Current vehicle liability insurance and a valid driver's license required.
• Willingness to submit to random drug and alcohol testing per safety policy.

Responsibilities

• Assist Intake Therapists with receiving referrals, gathering demographic and eligibility information, explaining available services, and facilitating timely access to trauma-informed behavioral health services.
• Assess non-clinical barriers to care, coordinate resources (transportation, childcare, insurance, finances, language access).
• Assist the treatment team by facilitating referrals and linkages to internal programs and external resources.
• Monitor client progress and document contacts and outcomes per agency policies and grant requirements.
• Serve as a resource for families regarding services, treatment processes, and confidentiality practices.
• Assist families in completing forms, obtaining releases of information, and navigating systems.
• Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, case staffing, and care coordination activities.
• Maintain accurate, timely, confidential client records and data entry for QA and reporting.
• Support outreach and community education to build referral partnerships.
• Engage in quality improvement, staff training, and professional development on trauma-informed care.
