Job summary

Alliance for Community Empowerment seeks a Youth Mentor in Los Angeles to guide reentry participants through individualized plans and supportive services. You will establish trust, document progress, and coordinate referrals to ensure successful outcomes.

The role requires trauma-informed approaches, bilingual communication (Spanish preferred), and flexibility for occasional evenings or weekends. A valid CA driver’s license and background TB clearance are needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma and community intervention experience.
• Spanish language skills preferred.
• California Driver’s License with clean DMV record.
• Background check and TB clearance required.

Responsibilities

• Mentor, motivate, and empower youth participants to be part of their communities.
• Maintain contact with youth at least twice weekly and one in-person meeting.
• Manage caseload of about 10–12 youth with individualized support.
• Conduct intake, exit assessments, and draft care plans.
• Document interactions and maintain case notes in data systems.
• Provide linkages and referrals to needed services.
• Build referral pathways with service providers and justice partners.
• Attend trainings, meetings, and professional development.
• Be available for early mornings, evenings, and some weekends.
