Job summary

The Salvation Army Midway Citadel Corps & Community Center is seeking a Youth Mentor to engage with youth in Chicago, support mentoring curricula, and coordinate services with partners. This role emphasizes trauma-informed approaches and strong relationship-building within a faith-based service setting.

Applicants should have a High School Diploma or GED and at least 3 years of experience in community outreach, with training requirements including mandated reporter and CPR/First Aid

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
• 3 years of experience working with community outreach-based programs.
• Exposure to social services or faith-based organizations preferred.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate, direct, and supervise all programmatic activities with youth.
• Build strong, positive relationships with youth and facilitate team building.
• Assist with implementing curricula and engaging youth in activities.
• Help retain youth throughout the program with creative strategies.
• Engage youth in wraparound services with The Salvation Army and partners.
• Act as liaison to youth, families, and DFSS personnel.
• Assist with data collection and entry into Cityspan, SIMS, and DFSS platforms.
• Implement performance measurement tools with youth and ensure completion.
• Attend mandatory training and certifications to remain in good standing.
