Job summary

Nexus Family Healing-Woodbourne Campus in Baltimore, MD seeks a Vocational Teacher to inspire youth in a residential setting, teaching workforce readiness and practical job skills through hands-on learning. You will support students’ academic and social-emotional growth using trauma-informed practices and mentorship.

Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in education and active Maryland teaching licensure; experience with emotionally/behaviorally challenged youth is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in an educational discipline is required.
• Active Maryland teacher’s licensure/certification is required.
• Experience with youth who have emotional disabilities or behavioral/mental health challenges is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assess educational needs and progress of assigned students with the school team.
• Provide instruction to students in assigned classes and prepare relevant lesson plans.
• Assist students individually, advocate for their learning and social-emotional growth.
• Apply de-escalation techniques and crisis intervention as needed.
• Develop or assist in developing IEPs and coordinate meetings.
• Communicate academic and behavioral progress to staff, and maintain confidentiality.

Education

Bachelor's degree in an educational discipline

Active Maryland teacher's licensure/certification

Experience with emotionally/behaviorally challenged youth
