Job summary

Nexus Family Healing in Baltimore seeks a Creative Music Teacher to foster a nurturing and educational appreciation of music for youth in a trauma-informed setting. You will provide diverse instructional methods, support social-emotional growth, and align with IEP goals within a residential program.

Ideal candidates have a Bachelor’s in Education and Maryland teaching licensure, with experience supporting youth facing emotional and behavioral health challenges.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in education or related field is required.
• Active Maryland teaching license/certification required.
• Experience with youth that have emotional disabilities and/or behavioral/mental health challenges.
• Valid driver's license and CJIS background check required.
• Safety Crisis Management training completed.

Responsibilities

• Assess educational needs and progress of assigned students in cooperation with the school team.
• Provide instruction in classes of expertise with planned lessons.
• Provide crisis intervention within classroom using de-escalation techniques.
• Create a positive classroom climate and maintain appropriate student relationships.
• Develop or assist in developing IEPs and coordinate meetings with IEP team.
