Job summary

YWCA Greater Los Angeles seeks a Counselor Advocate in Long Beach, CA to provide trauma-informed advocacy and crisis intervention for survivors of violence. The role includes information and referrals, safety planning, accompaniment, and resource navigation as part of a 24-hour crisis hotline and community outreach.

You will collaborate with staff and partners to promote safety, healing, and empowerment, while maintaining client privacy and coordinating with clinical teams.

Qualifications

  • Requires high school diploma or GED and prefer an associate degree in a related field.
  • California Certification for Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Advocate training is required or must be obtained.
  • Experience working with survivors of gender-based violence and victims’ rights is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide trauma-informed advocacy and crisis intervention to survivors of violence.
  • Conduct intakes, assess needs, develop service plans, and coordinate case management with staff.
  • Educate participants on victims’ rights, legal protections, and available resources.
  • Coordinate referrals to medical, behavioral health, housing, and legal services.
  • Maintain client privacy and document progress and outcomes.
