Job summary

CAPS Collaborative is seeking dynamic paraprofessionals to support classroom teachers in alternative school classrooms designed for students with emotional impairments, trauma histories, and autism. The paraprofessional will work in small groups and one-to-one with students to provide the physical and emotional support needed to participate and benefit from the educational program.

Qualifications

• Paraprofessionals assist teachers in special education settings.
• Experience with emotional impairments, trauma histories, or autism is preferred.
• ABA/behavioral background is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist classroom teacher in a self-contained behavioral classroom.
• Set clear, structured limits related to student behavior.
• Support and model vocational opportunities in community settings.
• Supervise transitions and supervise large group activities or field trips.
• Provide record-keeping and clerical support as needed.
• Act as substitute teacher in teacher absence (stipend applies).
• Direct occasional PE/Art classes under supervision.
