Job summary

Respite Care of San Antonio, Inc. seeks a Residential Care Provider to care for children with intellectual and developmental disabilities in an emergency shelter. The role focuses on safety, comfort, and guiding basic living skills while supporting families and staff.

Responsibilities include supervising activities, teaching personal care and nutrition, and using trauma-informed approaches. You will document incidents, assist with transportation, and ensure compliance with licensing and agency

Qualifications

• Requires background checks clearance and ability to pass 40 hours of paid new hire orientation training.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Experience working with children with developmental disabilities preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee children during activities, homework, and community events.
• Assist with personal care, grooming, and nutritional education.
• Establish trusting relationships and use positive behavior support.
• Respond to children’s needs with empathy and de-escalation techniques.
• Complete required incident reports and maintain daily logs.
• Transport children to activities, school, and medical appointments.
• Ensure licensing requirements are met and contribute to a supportive environment.
