Job summary

Respite Care of San Antonio seeks a Residential Care Provider to support children with intellectual and developmental disabilities in an emergency shelter. You will help ensure safety, comfort, and daily living skills while upholding licensing standards.

Your role includes guiding behavior, coordinating activities, attending medical appointments, and collaborating with staff to create a nurturing environment that promotes resilience and family stability.

Qualifications

• Minimum age 21 or older.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Ability to pass all background checks and attend 40 hours of paid orientation.
• Experience with children with developmental disabilities preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee children during creative play, homework, and community activities.
• Assist children with clothing, personal items, grooming, and nutrition.
• Establish trusting relationships, listen with compassion, and provide positive guidance.
• De-escalate emotional situations using trauma-informed care.
• Report incidents to supervisors and complete required documentation.
• Transport children to visits, activities, school, and appointments.
• Complete required trainings to meet licensing requirements.
