Job summary

NewYork-Presbyterian is seeking a clinically proficient Registered Nurse (RN) for the Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (6North). This full-time day-shift role focuses on de-escalation, trauma-informed care, and round-the-clock monitoring in a multidisciplinary setting at Brooklyn Methodist Hospital.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor’s in Nursing, an active NYS RN license, and BLS. Preference for psychiatric nursing certification and 1–2 years of related experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing; New York State RN license; BLS certification.
• Preferred certification in Psychiatric Nursing.
• 1–2 years of psychiatric nursing experience preferred.
• Experience in crisis management and managing psychiatric emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Provide therapeutic interventions and continuous monitoring for patients with behavioral disturbances.
• Administer medications as prescribed and monitor effects.
• De-escalate high-risk situations and manage psychiatric crises.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure patient and staff safety.
