Job summary

NewYork-Presbyterian is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (6North) at Brooklyn Methodist Hospital. This part-time night-shift role focuses on de-escalation, trauma-informed care, and multidisciplinary collaboration to ensure patient safety and therapeutic care.

The ideal candidate will have a BSN, NYS RN license, BLS, and 1–2 years in psychiatric care, with preferred Psychiatric Nursing certification.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing is required.
• Current New York State RN license is required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from American Heart Association is required.
• Preferred: Psychiatric Nursing certification.
• Preferred: 1–2 years of psychiatric nursing experience, preferably in a psychiatric or behavioral health setting.
• Experience with crisis management, de-escalation techniques, and managing psychiatric emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Deliver therapeutic interventions and monitor patients with significant behavioral disturbances.
• Administer medications as prescribed and ensure patient safety.
• Provide constant monitoring and de-escalation when needed.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to implement evidence-based interventions and support recovery.
