Job summary

Compass Housing Alliance is seeking a Program Assistant to observe, record, and respond to the comings and doings of guests, residents, participants, and staff, maintaining a safe, trauma-informed environment. This unionized role supports the program services team at the Pioneer Square Day Center in Seattle.

The position reports to the Program Supervisor and offers a $25.24 per hour wage, a Monday–Friday schedule, and paid meal period.

Qualifications

Fluent reading/writing in English and ability to understand English.
Experience in social/human services preferred (1 year+).
Awareness of housing instability, mental health, and related topics preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide trauma-informed monitoring of activity to ensure safety, security, and comfort for guests/residents/participants and staff.
Mediate conflicts and perform de-escalation and crisis intervention; refer to services as needed.
Support program activities, including meal services and group activities; assist with laundry access and instruction.
Engage guests to assess needs and provide information and referrals.
Address issues per program/management direction; report needs to management.
Monitor building security; log actions and report incidents to supervisor/manager.
Control after-hours front door and enforce building rules.
