Job summary

YWCA Northeast Kansas is seeking an Outreach Worker for Topeka, KS. This part-time role (~24 hours/week) reports to the Program Manager and involves engaging with high-risk individuals, coordinating services, and promoting safety for participants.

Qualifications

  • Minimum a bachelor’s degree in a human services field with 2 years of related experience, or a high school diploma with 4 years of related experience.
  • Experience in high-risk communities and with high-risk individuals.
  • Knowledge of local community resources and services.
  • Respect for cultural and socioeconomic diversity; trauma-informed practice.
  • Ability to build relationships and work as part of a team.
  • Commitment to YWCA’s mission and values, including racial equity and social justice.

Responsibilities

  • Engage and support participants using a trauma-informed approach.
  • Set and monitor monthly goals with participants.
  • Coordinate referrals to essential services.
  • Maintain ongoing contact per individualized service plans.
  • Assist with planning activities for participants and promoting positive activities.
  • Address violence prevention and risk-reduction skills with participants.
  • Document service delivery per program requirements.
  • Attend community meetings and represent the organization as scheduled.
