Job summary

Via Linda Behavioral Hospital is seeking an Intake Therapist - PRN/Per Diem in Scottsdale to support the intake team. You will perform trauma‑informed telephone and in‑person assessments to help physicians determine the appropriate level of care for potential patients.

Under the direction of the Director of Intake, you will initiate contact with referral sources, coordinate the intake and admission processes, and collaborate with families, patients and hospital staff.

Qualifications

• Minimum Education: High School Diploma or GED.
• Preferred Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Social Work, Psychology, Mental Health, or related field, and state licensure with the Board.
• Minimum Experience: 1 year of experience in social services, community mental health/behavioral health, mental-health setting, inpatient setting, and other related services, including crisis interventions and customer service.
• Preferred Experience: 2–3 years of experience in social services, community mental health/behavioral health, mental-health setting, and inpatient setting, with experience performing admissions, setting and performing administrative duties, crisis interventions, and customer service. Prior experience in intake/admission departments is preferred.
• Valid Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance or ability to obtain

Responsibilities

• Ensure trauma-informed intake assessments to determine the appropriate level of care for potential patients.
• Coordinate intake and admission processes and communicate with referral sources, families, patients and unit staff.
• Cross-trained in other Intake Department roles such as BHT or Intake Coordinator responsibilities; may verify and obtain prior authorizations of insurance benefits.

Education

High School Diploma or GED

Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Mental Health, or related field

State licensure with the Board

1 year of experience in social services/behavioral health
