Job summary

The Children's Institute, Inc. in Los Angeles is seeking an Intake and Registration Coordinator to ensure timely access to behavioral health services.

You will manage referrals, verify eligibility, and enter client information into the EHR, delivering a trauma-informed, welcoming intake experience. You will coordinate with clinical teams, screen referrals, protect PHI, and support enrollment while traveling as needed and maintaining HIPAA compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or four years of clinical intake experience.
• Experience with Medi-Cal, DMH, and health service enrollment preferred.
• Ability to protect client privacy and handle sensitive information.

Responsibilities

• As the first intake point, provide a welcoming, trauma-informed experience.
• Conduct initial intake, collect demographics, consent, and eligibility docs.
• Verify insurance and Medi-Cal eligibility; flag enrollment barriers.
• Enter and maintain client data in the EHR and tracking systems.
• Coordinate intake workflows with clinical teams and supervisors.
• Screen referrals for completeness; escalate complex cases as needed.
• Communicate intake status and required documents to clients.
• Maintain HIPAA compliance and confidentiality at all times.
