Job summary

The SPAN Center is seeking a Home Office Information & Referral Specialist to assess client needs across financial, social, and environmental factors and coordinate trauma-informed, person-centered referrals in the Richmond, VA area.

You will engage clients with empathy, maintain thorough documentation, and collaborate with partners to improve outcomes. A bachelor’s degree in a related field and two years of experience are preferred, with Inform USA certification due within 180 days of hire.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in sociology, social work, human services, or a related field is required.
• Minimum of two years of experience in human services or related area preferred; aging and disability knowledge is desirable.
• Must obtain Inform USA certification within 180 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Engage individuals in a welcoming, trauma-informed manner with dignity and trust.
• Conduct holistic assessments of physical, emotional, social, environmental, and financial needs.
• Provide referrals aligned with client needs and available services.
• Communicate clearly about rights, responsibilities, and services.
• Document accurately reflecting a strength-based, respectful portrayal.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to ensure coordinated service delivery.
• Advocate for client needs and identify gaps in services.
