Job summary

Union Gospel Mission of Tarrant County in Fort Worth, TX is seeking a Mission Support Mentor for the Women's Program on a part-time basis. The role supports guest operations in the Overnight Shelter and related programs, with roughly 24 hours per week and potential short-notice shift coverage.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; Some college preferred.
• Experience working with vulnerable adults and children in an emergency shelter environment or long-term supportive housing program.
• Demonstrates cultural competency and ability to communicate with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
• Possesses excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with staff across departments, students, and families.

Responsibilities

• Provide check-in service and meet the needs of residents and guests.
• Ensure the safety of facilities, employees, program participants, guests, and visitors, and execute daily responsibilities in key areas of operations.
• Maintain professionalism and adhere to organizational and department policies and procedures.
• Demonstrate trauma-informed approach to build safe, trusting, and respectful relationships with participants and guests.
• Protect confidentiality, privacy, and dignity of participants and guests.
• Collaborate with Security Patrol to respond to emergencies and provide timely crisis intervention.
• Manage the phone system; maintain proper phone etiquette and guest information resources.
• Keep front desk and lobby area clean, organized, and stocked with necessary forms.
• Monitor access and enforce policies; escort away non-compliant individuals if needed.
• Monitor grounds and entry/exit points; ensure safety and security.
• Conduct drug and alcohol screenings per policy.
• Scan program participants and guests in/out for meals and services.
• Complete daily shift reports and brief incoming staff on incidents.
• Inventory, dispense, and store consumable items including cleaning supplies.
• Participate in Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) meetings as assigned.
• Submit maintenance requests promptly as issues arise.
