Job summary

The Tacoma Rescue Mission is seeking a Shelter Generalist for the Women’s Shelter to provide a safe, welcoming and dignified environment for neighbors experiencing homelessness. You will conduct intake, coordinate resources, monitor shelter operations, and maintain logs and cleanliness within a faith-based nonprofit setting.

Position requires working a PT weekend night shift (Friday-Sunday, 6pm-3am) on the Downtown Campus in Tacoma, WA. Training and supportive work environment offered.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Social Services or related field.
• Effective de-escalation skills.
• Clear and effective written, verbal communication.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-stress environment.

Responsibilities

• Greets guests and residents, maintaining a safe, hospitable environment.
• Performs intake procedures and refers residents to resources.
• Oversees shelter operations and ensures rules and safety.
• Maintains logs, data entry, and inventory as assigned.
• Performs basic cleaning and turnover of spaces as needed.
