Family Support Specialists work with families in homes and group settings to support health, safety and life skills, following Healthy Families America and Healthy Families Tennessee guidelines. Responsibilities include engaging families, arranging resources, documenting activities, and participating in supervision and community activities to promote stability and resilience for children

Qualifications

• Experience working with or providing supportive services to young children and families.
• Ability to work with a culturally diverse population with inclusion.
• Ability to establish trusting relationships and utilize basic supportive skills.
• Strengths-based and family-centered service approach.
• Knowledge of child development and family dynamics.
• Willingness to engage in reflective supervision and training.

Responsibilities

• Build trusting relationships with families and identify strengths and barriers.
• Provide long-term home visiting services to parents and children.
• Develop family service plans and coordinate community referrals.
• Prepare and deliver parent-child curriculum focused on health, development and life skills.
• Maintain documentation and time records to support operations.
• Participate in supervision, meetings, trainings and program evaluations.
