Job summary

Good Shepherd Services, Ltd in the Bronx is seeking a Social Worker to deliver home-based and on-site counseling within the North Bronx Family Service Center. The role emphasizes strength-based, trauma-informed practice and coordination with ACS and community resources.

You will manage a caseload, engage families at referrals, participate in safety conferences, and document via SBC processes, with a 35-hour work week, non-exempt, onsite with occasional hybrid scheduling.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree required or candidate in a master’s program.
• Child welfare experience preferred.
• Ability to work at least 2 evenings per week.
• Strong organizational, interpersonal and counseling skills.
• Commitment to strength-based, trauma-informed youth and family development.

Responsibilities

• Provide home-based and on-site individual, family, and group counseling for a caseload of twelve families.
• Engage families upon referral and participate in ACS Child Safety Conferences when applicable.
• Implement SBC practices: assessment, outcomes, action plans, documentation and celebration.
• Handle case-related crises professionally, including reports to State Central Registry.
• Conduct screenings for mental illness, safety, and caregiver capacity in the home.
• Integrate SBC into every counseling session and ensure monthly child contacts.
• Represent participant needs at ACS and GSS meetings and trainings.
• Collaborate with ACS, schools, medical and mental health clinics, and other resources.
