Job summary

Children’s Home Society of South Dakota seeks a Shelter Assistant to provide crisis and non-crisis intervention in a shelter setting. You will respond to crisis calls and shelter intakes, assist with case management, and ensure child supervision and care.

Qualifications

• High school education required.
• Valid driver’s license preferred.
• Able to use office software and basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Crisis intervention via crisis calls, in-person counseling, and shelter intakes/departures.
• Assist with case management and client follow-ups; transport as needed.
• Maintain child supervision, assist with hygiene, nutrition, and activities.
• Complete forms and documentation; attend required training.
• Follow safety and infection control policies; coordinate shelter activities.
