Job summary

BRC is seeking a Community Technician to provide a consistent, trusted presence for individuals experiencing homelessness. This full-time role involves monitoring, de-escalation, documentation, and emergency response.

No prior shelter experience is required; a high school diploma is needed, with on-site shifts including mornings, evenings, and overnights. The position offers health insurance, vacation, retirement plan, tuition assistance, and staff development opportunities.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Strong communication skills and basic computer proficiency.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and maintain professional boundaries.
• Willingness to obtain required certifications.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe, orderly residential environment through active monitoring and rounds
• Engage residents using trauma-informed and de-escalation techniques
• Respond to conflicts, safety concerns, and crises professionally
• Screen residents and visitors while maintaining dignity and security
• Provide emergency support (First Aid/CPR, Narcan – training provided)
• Complete documentation (logbooks, incident reports, progress notes)
• Support fire safety procedures, inspections, and compliance
• Assist with meals, escorts, inventory, and facility upkeep
