Job summary

The Sexual Assault Response Center in Augusta, GA seeks a Community Outreach Coordinator to expand community awareness of survivor services, consent, healthy relationships, and available resources. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in public health, social work, education, communications, human services, nonprofit management, or related field preferred. Relevant professional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Experience with community outreach, education, volunteer coordination, public speaking, community engagement, or event coordination preferred.
• Strong public-speaking and presentation skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences.
• Strong organizational, planning, and event-coordination skills.
• Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with community organizations.
• Comfortable discussing sensitive topics related to sexual assault and interpersonal violence in a professional, appropriate, and trauma-informed manner.
• Ability to maintain accurate program records and meet grant documentation and reporting requirements.

Responsibilities

• Develop, coordinate, and provide educational presentations regarding sexual assault, consent, healthy relationships, bystander awareness, risk reduction, survivor support, available resources, and other approved topics.
• Provide presentations and educational programs to schools, colleges, healthcare organizations, law enforcement agencies, civic groups, businesses, faith-based organizations, and community organizations.
• Educate community members about SARC's 24-hour services, medical forensic examinations, advocacy, counseling, referrals, and other available resources.
• Develop relationships with organizations that can assist SARC in reaching underserved populations and rural communities.
• Respond to requests for speakers, educational presentations, informational materials, and community participation.
• Maintain a calendar of outreach activities, presentations, community events, and educational programs.
• Identify opportunities to increase awareness of SARC and improve community knowledge regarding sexual violence, survivor resources, and available services.
• Coordinate volunteer applications, screening, orientation, training, and placement in collaboration with appropriate SARC staff.
• Maintain volunteer records, contact information, training documentation, and service hours.
• Develop volunteer opportunities related to community outreach, awareness events, administrative support, special projects, and other appropriate organizational activities.
• Communicate regularly with volunteers regarding upcoming opportunities and organizational needs.
• Coordinate volunteer participation at community events, educational activities, and awareness initiatives.
• Assist with recognizing volunteer contributions and developing strategies to maintain an engaged volunteer base.
• Ensure volunteers understand confidentiality requirements, professional boundaries, trauma-informed practices, and SARC policies before participating in organizational activities.
• Develop and maintain working relationships with schools, colleges, healthcare providers, law enforcement agencies, social service organizations, faith-based organizations, community groups, and other organizations that can assist with education, awareness, referrals, and survivor access to services.
• Participate in community coalitions, task forces, resource fairs, collaborative meetings, and other community initiatives as assigned.
• Maintain updated community contacts and outreach records.
• Identify underserved populations and geographic areas where additional community education and outreach may be beneficial.
• Work with SARC program staff to ensure community education accurately reflects current services, eligibility requirements, referral processes, and available resources.
• Facilitate connections between community organizations and appropriate SARC programs when additional information, training, or services are requested.
• Maintain accurate records of outreach activities, presentations, events, participants, volunteers, community contacts, and materials distributed.
• Collect demographic and program information required by applicable grants while protecting participant and survivor confidentiality.
• Provide monthly, quarterly, and annual outreach statistics as requested.
• Assist with grant reporting by providing accurate information regarding community education, outreach activities, volunteer participation, and program outcomes.
• Document activities in SARC's designated data-management and tracking systems.
• Monitor outreach activities to identify areas where additional community engagement or education may be needed.
