Job summary

YWCA NORTHEAST INDIANA INC is seeking a Child Activities Specialist to provide trauma-informed activities and family-centered support for children in shelter programs. You will promote safety, healing, and healthy development through structured activities and engaging groups.

The role involves planning parenting classes, coordinating with Residential Services staff, and supporting families with Two-Generation programming, with weekend coverage and on-call rotation as required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Social Work, Human Services, or related field, or equivalent education and experience.
• CPR and First Aid Certifications within the first year of employment.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and facilitate trauma-informed and age-appropriate activities for children and families in residential programs.
• Create a safe, welcoming environment that supports healing, resilience, and social-emotional development.
• Develop and maintain a schedule of children’s activities, groups, and family-centered programming.
• Plan and facilitate parenting classes and parent-child activities to strengthen parenting skills and relationships.
• Coordinate with community partners, volunteers, and local organizations for enrichment opportunities for children and families.
• Develop summer programming, seasonal activities, and community outings.
• Maintain accurate documentation of activities, attendance, and program outcomes.
