Jefferson County is seeking a program specialist within the Housing Economic & Employment Services Division to coach participants toward employment, assess barriers, and coordinate with local providers. Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree.
• Experience: One year.
• Note: An equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable.
• Preferred Qualifications: Specialized training in career development, counseling techniques, and coaching methodologies.
• Industry knowledge and diverse personal career experiences will be instrumental in guiding clients through various challenges and opportunities.
• A genuine passion for empowering individuals, fostering self-discovery, and helping them navigate their educational and career paths.
• A keen eye for detail and understanding of the importance of maintaining accurate records.

Responsabilités

• Conduct individual career coaching sessions to evaluate work experience, transferable skills, and career goals, and help participants overcome barriers to employment.
• Provide career and job readiness guidance, including Trauma-Informed customer service and support in the career services environment.
• Intake and initial assessment to determine participants’ goals, aptitude, and ability to obtain employment.
• Determine suitability and eligibility for program enrollment.
• Guide, support, and monitor participants’ progress toward employment goals through recurring coaching meetings and follow-up communications.
• Advise and guide job seekers in making occupational or career decisions and addressing barriers to employment.
• Assist job seekers in identifying transferable skills and how to highlight qualifications.
• Coordinate wrap-around services with internal and external partners.
• Stay current with industry trends, labor market data, and career development best practices to continuously improve coaching strategies.
• Participate in special projects, committees, staff development, and team-building initiatives.
• Develop and maintain partnerships with community organizations to enhance services.
• Maintain high-quality records of participant data and activities in multiple databases for audits.
• Ensure compliance with program regulations, policies, and guidelines.
