Job summary

Directions for Living is hiring for a Behavior Specialist in Largo, FL. This professional role supports the First Five program, delivering trauma-informed behavior management for children and families.

Work includes coordinating services, home visits, and collaboration with the IDT and counselors to prevent educational setbacks. Flexible hours with evening and weekend work; requires a Florida Behavioral Health Certification within 6 months of hire.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or related field from an accredited university; or a Master’s in Social Work with at least 2 years of relevant experience.
• BCABA or RBT certification is required.
• Experience with child welfare, early childhood education or children’s mental health preferred.
• Proficient in Outlook, Excel, and MS Word; able to work in Windows environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide intensive behavior management in a trauma-informed care setting.
• Collaborate with team to support families in home or community settings.
• Assess, link, coordinate and monitor mental health, social, and educational services.
• Document activities in the agency electronic health record.
• Meet productivity: 112 billable hours monthly; field-based work.
