Behavior Specialist (Part-Time during the school year, Full-Time during the Summer)
Aftercare Hours: Monday through Friday 2PM to 6PM
Summer Hours: Monday through Friday from 8AM to 5PM
Pay: $15 per hour
Summary
Smith's MOST Special Needs program is structured to meet the needs of children (aged 5-11 years old) identified with behavioral health disorders or at risk due to overt emotional and behavioral challenges. The program provides small group instruction and activities in an environment that allows for crisis intervention, positive reinforcement, and behavioral support. The Peaceful Champions MOST Martial Arts component allows children to become part of a positive, encouraging group activity while developing through individual efforts at their own unique pace. The program uses a behavior management system that identifies positive behavior reinforcements designed to enhance participation in all aspects of the program.
Responsibilities
- The Behavior Specialist will be trained to implement a behavior modification system during all program activities (e.g., meal times, martial arts, Project Based Learning course, field trips, music class, reading intervention, and daily recess).
- Ensure that all children receive each component of the program.
- Demonstrate respect and cultural sensitivity to all clients and implement Trauma-Informed practices.
- Teamwork, initiative and positive example in work habits are expected at all times.
Desired Qualifications
- High School Diploma required.
- Minimum of 3 years working in mental health services or SED setting.
Pre-Employment Requirements
- Must pass a Level II (FBI & FDLE) background clearance and drug test.
