Job summary

Boothbay Region YMCA seeks a dedicated youth and camp program staff member to support healthy living, social responsibility, and youth development. You will work with the Youth & Camp Program Director to implement behavioral programs and ensure safety and HIPAA compliance.

Role requires excellent interpersonal skills, leadership, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. A team-oriented, compassionate approach is essential for engaging with staff, participants, and families.

Qualifications

• 5-7 years of experience in a related field.
• CPR and First Aid certification required within 60 days of hire.
• Team player with superb interpersonal skills and positive attitude.
• Self-starter with the ability to multi-task, lead others, and adapt to changing circumstances in a fast-paced environment.
• General computer skills and the ability to effectively learn and use new software.
• Six hours of training in related fields such as behavioral management, child psychology or sociology.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with the Youth & Camp Program Director to promote healthy living, social responsibility, and youth development. Serves as a role model for staff and participants.
• Collaborates to create and execute behavioral programs, training sessions, and procedures that support the YMCA while ensuring safety, licensing standards, HIPAA compliance, and customer service.
• Promotes a positive culture around mental health, cultural humility, and behavioral management; monitors trends and creates individual plans as needed.
• Reviews student behavior logs and develops solutions to help students succeed in after-care environments.
• Creates a culture of positive mental health, trauma-informed care, cultural humility, and behavior management; supports counselors with group topics.
• Creates individually tailored support plans for students and coordinates actions with staff, including emotion regulation techniques.
• Intervenes with students to prevent or resolve problems and builds authentic relationships with staff, participants, and community partners.
• Facilitates communication with families to provide updates and problem-solve challenges as directed.
• Assists with staff and volunteer safety and cleanliness of operations.
• As a Mandated Reporter, recognizes signs of abuse or neglect and reports to supervisor and authorities.
