Job summary

Inova Fairfax Medical Campus is seeking an Emergency Medical Technician to join our Level 1 Trauma Center. This full-time day shift (3 twelve-hour shifts per week) includes rotating weekends; candidates must complete a 6-week training program.

Requirements include EMT-B certification (NREMT or Virginia license), HS diploma or GED, and BLS. English proficiency and computer skills are essential as is teamwork within a high-acuity environment.

Qualifications

• Active EMT-B certification (NREMT or Virginia license) is required.
• Strong communication and computer skills for charting and orders.
• Ability to read, write and understand English fluently.

Responsibilities

• Documents all required fields in medical records, computer entries and charges.
• Applies orthopedic splinting devices.
• Collects patient specimens following department/facility policies and procedures.
• Maintains inventory of equipment and supplies to optimize delivery of patient care and treatment.
• Assists with patient transport for testing, admission/discharge, interfacility and aeromedical.
• Performs 12 lead ECG and places patients on continuous cardiac monitoring.
• Performs patient phlebotomy following department/facility policies and procedures.
• Provides wound care according to department clinical practice standards and acts as a resource to physicians and nurses to assist with optimum care.
• May perform additional duties as assigned.
