Job summary

Providence Health Plan Group is seeking a Trauma Registrar to accurately abstract clinical data from patient records, code for injuries and procedures, and enter data into the trauma registry. The role includes generating statistical reports and collaborating with the care team to ensure ethical, accurate record-keeping.

Required qualifications include AIS/Trauma Registry training and ICD-10-CM/PCS coding experience in an acute-care setting, along with EPIC system familiarity.

Qualifications

  • Completion of Anatomy and Physiology coursework from an accredited college
  • CSTR/CAISS Certification
  • Medical terminology coursework completed
  • AIS course completed and passed within 1 year of hire
  • Trauma Registry Course within 1 year of hire
  • ICD-10 course or refresher every five years if previously taken and pass within 1 year of hire
  • 3 years of current work experience in an acute-care hospital with exposure to medical terminology and patient medical records
  • Minimum one year experience coding ICD-10-CM injuries and mechanism of injuries in an Acute Care Hospital
  • Minimum one year of experience coding ICD-10-PCS in an Acute Care Hospital
  • 1 year of EPIC Health Record System experience in an Acute Care Hospital
  • 3 years of related professional experience including extensive use of data entry and word processing (Word/Excel)

Responsibilities

  • Responsible and accountable for accurately abstracting clinical and demographic data from patient records
  • Code data for injury severity and procedures completed
  • Review records to abstract and enter data into the trauma registry
  • Provide statistical reports from the trauma registry as requested
  • Demonstrate ability to work independently and collaboratively with the team
