Job summary

MedStar Washington Hospital Center seeks a Lead Advanced Practice Provider (APP) for the Trauma Service. The role leads daily trauma APP operations, mentors staff, and collaborates with trauma surgeons and leadership to uphold high clinical standards.

Responsibilities include maintaining a clinical practice, developing treatment plans, and driving quality initiatives across the trauma service. A strong leadership and trauma/critical care background is required.

Qualifications

• Master's or Doctoral degree in Nursing or Physician Assistant Studies (Preferred)
• Current Maryland NP or PA licensure and national certification
• Current BLS and ACLS certification (ATLS preferred)
• Minimum 3–5 years of APP experience, with prior trauma, critical care, or surgical experience strongly preferred
• Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and communication skills

Responsibilities

• Lead APP coordinates daily operations for the trauma APP group, including scheduling and staffing
• Provides education, feedback, and coaching to support APP growth and performance
• Acts as liaison between APPs, trauma surgeons, nursing, and hospital leadership
• Maintains active clinical practice with assessments and treatment plans for acute and critically ill trauma patients
• Partners with attending surgeons and teams to advance clinical quality and process improvement initiatives
