Job summary

Salem Health Hospitals & Clinics is seeking a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to support our Trauma and Acute Care Surgery program in a full-time capacity. The APP will work with a team of surgeons and other APPs across inpatient, clinic, and OR settings in Salem, Oregon.

Highlights include a busy level II trauma center with diverse cases, 184 four-10 hour shifts annually, and opportunities for teaching and independent practice with team support.

Qualifications

• Graduate from ARC-PA accredited PA program.
• Current PA license in Oregon.
• Pass PANCE and NCCPA certification; 12 months privileges allowed for recent grads.
• DEA certification.
• ACLS certification.
• Preference for 1 year surgical PA experience.
• Master’s degree in Nursing or equivalent per Oregon RN Board.
• NP program completion per Oregon Board of Nursing.
• Current, unencumbered RN license in Oregon.
• Current NP certification (Oregon).
• DEA certification (required).
• First Assistant Training (CCI) or equivalent preferred within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Provide evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment for surgical patients in clinic and perioperative settings.
• Perform pre-operative assessments and develop care plans to optimize readiness.
• Manage post-operative follow-up and adjust treatment plans as needed.
• Conduct specialty-specific procedures within scope of practice.
• Collaborate with surgeons, nurses, and staff to coordinate patient care.
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, options, and recovery.
• Document encounters and orders in electronic medical record.
