Job summary

Atrium Health is seeking a qualified Advanced Practice Provider (NP or PA) to join the Acute Care Surgery/Emergency General Surgery team. The APP will manage the care of patients across pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative settings within a multidisciplinary team; strong emphasis on ethical conduct and patient advocacy.

Successful candidates will be graduates of an accredited NP or PA program, eligible for licensure, and hold BLS/ACLS; ATLS is preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited NP or PA program and eligibility for licensure in the practice state.
• BLS and ACLS from AHA are required; ATLS from ACS is required.
• Maintenance of Certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Perform medical history, physical examinations, and determine treatment plans for general surgery and trauma patients.
• Independently rounds on pre- and post-operative patients and evaluates inpatient, emergent, and ICU consults.
• First-assists in emergency and elective general surgery cases, including laparoscopic and open abdominal procedures.
• Train, precept, and mentor APP fellows, medical students, and PA/NP students.
• Document all patient encounters accurately in the medical record and advocate for patients and families.
• Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and adhere to access and productivity policies.
