Job summary

CHI Mercy Health in Roseburg, OR is seeking a Patient Transporter to provide essential patient movement and related item transportation across our campus, delivering a high level of customer service.

Daily duties include transporting inpatients and outpatients to imaging and rooms, verifying patient identifiers, assisting with transfers, and reporting any concerns to the care team. Safety, cleanliness, and organized work areas are emphasized. Student loan repayment program offered!

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required or equivalent.
• AHA BLS certification within 30 days of hire.
• Certified Nursing Assistant is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Transports patients safely to the imaging department.
• Transports patients back to their rooms after examination and ensures patient remains connected to devices as needed.
• Assists technologists with positioning and moving patients using lift equipment.
• Documents patient identifiers, oxygen levels, and devices prior to transport.
• Maintains clean linen, restocks blankets, and supplies patient scrubs.
• Disinfects gurneys and wheelchairs and stores equipment properly after use.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Patient Transporter, you will provide essential assistance and transportation for patients and related items across our campus, ensuring a highly customer-sensitive and seamless experience.

Every day you will promptly and safely transport inpatients and outpatients to and from various hospital areas. You will meticulously confirm patient identification, greet and assist in transferring patients, and make conscious observations of patient condition during transport, reporting any issues to appropriate personnel. You will also maintain a clean and organized work area and report any malfunctioning equipment.

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate a strong commitment to patient safety and exceptional customer service for all individuals within our facility. You will be attentive, observant, and capable of performing duties efficiently while upholding the highest standards of care and professionalism.

• Transports patients safely to the imaging department.
• Transports patients back to their rooms upon completion of examination and ensures that the patient is hooked up to all devices that were removed for transport.
• Assists technologists in positioning and moving patients utilizing necessary lift systems.
• Documents initials on the requisition two patient identifiers, oxygen levels and what devices the patient was hooked up to prior to transport.
• Maintains clean linen supply. Monitors blanket warmer and restocks when needed. Stocks patient scrubs.
• Disinfects all gurneys and wheelchairs on a regular basis. Ensures equipment is properly stored when not in use.
