Job summary

MaineDOT is seeking a Transportation Worker to help keep Maine’s roads, bridges, and highways safe. The role involves seasonal work, learning new skills, and opportunities for advancement through paid training and promotions.

Starting pay is $21.37 per hour (Step 4) with a 20% stipend included, and benefits encompass health, retirement, and ample paid time off. The position emphasizes public service, safety, and ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Must obtain and maintain required licenses and certifications as applicable.
• Shall obtain and retain a valid Class B State of Maine license within the initial six-month probationary period.

Responsibilities

• Keep roadways and bridges safe and effective through hands-on maintenance work.
• Perform duties from road repair and culvert replacement in summer to snowplowing in winter.
• Participate in CDL training and Snowfighter training to advance with experience and time.
