Job summary

Maine Department of Transportation is seeking Transportation Workers to help keep Maine's roadways and bridges safe. This role involves performing road maintenance, winter plowing, and learning new skills through seasonal work, with promotional opportunities as you progress.

Starting pay is $22.33 per hour (Step 4), including a 20% stipend. Opportunities for CDL and Snowfighter training are available. Benefits and paid time off are provided for state employees.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age.
• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Must obtain and retain a valid Class B State of Maine license within the initial six-month probationary period.

Responsibilities

• Perform road maintenance, repairs and snow plowing as needed to keep Maine's roadways and bridges safe.
• Operate equipment and support the Transportation Workers in daily duties across seasons.
• Participate in ongoing training and potential promotions through the MaineDOT career path.
