Job summary

Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) is seeking two Transportation Technician 3 to support the Olympic Region’s Tumwater Design Office. You will assist in developing design documentation, plans, and cost estimates to ensure projects are delivered to standards.

This role involves field visits, CAD work, and data collection to support safe and reliable transportation systems across Washington. A strong emphasis on teamwork and adherence to procedures is essential.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret engineering plans and specifications.
• Ability to use CAD and engineering software for design and documentation.
• Ability to document activities, calculations, and records per standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide CAD and design support for PS&Es per WSDOT standards.
• Develop and revise plan sheets, exhibits, alignments, and quantity calculations.
• Prepare roadway, drainage, utility, signing, and geometric design elements.
• Prepare and maintain design docs, specs, and cost estimates.
• Review drafting and project records for accuracy and quality control.
• Maintain electronic project files and version control.
• Perform quantity calculations and prepare tabulations and notes.
• Conduct field reviews to verify conditions and gather data.
