Job summary

Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) seeks a Transportation Engineer 4 to lead the Olympic Region Plans Office design support and plans review team, ensuring projects are positioned for successful delivery. You will oversee design, pre-award activities, and PS&E tasks with an emphasis on quality and safety.

The role involves coordinating status reporting, guiding staff, and maintaining design documentation repositories while aligning with policy standards and long-term system

Qualifications

• Demonstrated technical expertise in design documentation and contract plans, specs, and estimates.
• Experience applying standard transportation engineering procedures to a variety of office work.
• Ability to communicate technical information clearly to diverse audiences.
• Proficiency in engineering/drafting software (MicroStation, InRoads, OpenRoads) and Windows/MS Office.
• Leadership in supervising a team and coaching staff.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support the Design Support and Plans Review Team for regional construction projects.
• Monitor Design-Bid-Build projects through pre-advertisement, advertisement, and award phases.
• Coordinate PS&E status reporting and project status meetings.
• Monitor procurement activities for Olympic Region Design-Build contracts.
• Coordinate design documentation packages and Plans for Approval reviews and archiving.
• Support development of Specifications, Engineer’s Estimates, and Special Provisions.
• Provide technical guidance and training on PS&E prep and Ad-Ready package development.
• Maintain region resources such as GSPs and the Special Provision Library.
