Job summary

Idaho Transportation Department in Emmett is seeking a Transportation Technician Apprentice in District 3. This 3-5 year horizontal career path offers on-the-job training plus classroom instruction with step-based wage progression to match achievement of agency goals.

Starting wage is $21.05–$21.55 per hour, with increases to $22.60 after Step One, $24.14 after Step Two, and $25.83 after Step Three; CDL must be obtained within 60 days of hire. A $1,500 sign-on bonus is included.

Qualifications

• Valid driver's license.
• Experience operating vehicles with manual transmissions.

Responsibilities

• Perform entry-level traffic services activities such as snow plowing, striping, and replacing and repairing traffic signs and posts.
• Operate a variety of power tools and light and heavy highway and construction equipment to maintain roadways, signs, bridges and other transportation facilities.
• Conduct routine inspections and field tests on construction and maintenance projects.
• Undergo FMCSA Clearinghouse review and drug/alcohol testing as part of employment.
• Work in all weather conditions, on congested highways, with irregular shifts and possible overtime.
