Job summary

The Idaho Transportation Department is hiring a Transportation Technician Apprentice for District 5, McCammon/Downey, Idaho on the Striping and Signing crew. This entry-level position offers on-the-job training and a clear 3-5 year career path with wage progression.

Starting wages are $21.05 to $21.55 per hour, rising through Step One to $24.14 and beyond; a $1,500 sign-on bonus is included. A Class A CDL is required within 60 days of hire, with ITD providing training and licensing support.

Qualifications

• Valid driver's license required.
• Experience operating vehicles with manual transmissions.
• Class A CDL with tanker endorsement within 60 days may be required.

Responsibilities

• Receive on-the-job instruction and classroom training.
• Perform entry-level highway maintenance and related work.
• Operate power tools and highway equipment to maintain roadways and signs.
• Conduct routine inspections and material testing.
• Perform entry-level traffic services such as striping and signing.
• Handle physically demanding tasks.
• Experience operating paint trucks for pavement markings preferred.
