Job summary

The Idaho Transportation Department in American Falls, Idaho is seeking a Transportation Technician Apprentice – Highway Maintenance for District 5. This 3- to 5-year program offers on-the-job and classroom training with wage progression from $21.05–$24.14 per hour.

A Class A CDL is required within 60 days of hire, along with pre-employment checks and drug testing. Starting wages are $21.05–$21.55, progressing to $24.14 after Step Two, with potential higher placement for snow plow experience.

Qualifications

• Valid driver's license required.
• Experience operating vehicles with manual transmissions.

Responsibilities

• Perform entry-level traffic services activities such as snow plowing, striping, and replacing and repairing traffic signs and posts.
• Perform entry-level technical highway maintenance and engineering work.
• Operate a variety of power tools and equipment to maintain roadways, signs, bridges and other transportation facilities.
• Conduct routine inspections and field tests on construction and maintenance projects.
• Conduct sample and routine material testing.
