Job summary

Vanasse Hangen Brustlin Inc. (VHB) seeks a Transportation Systems/Technology Leader to guide planning, design and construction support of ITS/ATMS infrastructure in the Mid-Atlantic. This senior role leads multidisciplinary teams, shapes strategy, and ensures delivery excellence across Virginia and DC with a hybrid work model.

You will oversee staffing, develop design standards, coordinate with agencies, and represent VHB at industry events to advance transportation technology solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Systems Engineering.
• 11+ years of relevant professional experience in ITS/ATMS market and managing teams.
• PE license required.
• Demonstrated ability to develop strategic framework for a sustainable transportation technology practice.
• Strong collaboration skills and willingness to travel.
• Understanding of local agency initiatives to position VHB for success.

Responsibilities

• Provides project oversight on ITS/ATMS/Technology projects to ensure clear scoping and viable deliverables.
• Develops design plans and specifications for ITS, ATMS, and communications equipment & infrastructure.
• Oversees Systems Engineering documents following FHWA process.
• Plans and develops ITS/ATMS master planning and policy documents.
• Oversees staff performing field work, testing, and infrastructure verification.
• Writes technical reports, memos, and specifications for ITS/ATMS hardware/software.
